  • VARADERO - CUBABeaches are one of the big attractions of Cuba. At the northernmost spot of the island, Varadero is the main tourist destination of the island, because it offers 22 kilometers of fine white sand, and an impressive expanse of warm and blue water.

Cuba has all types of beaches, from long extensions of sand full of people, to the Playas del Este (very close to Havana), to remote spots where you'll hardly find any company. The keys are a tourist destination as well, and the most visited are Cayo Levisa and Cayo Coco.

The Varadero beach is in the narrow Peninsula de Hicacos, and is known for having a wide lane of white sand and a soft descent into the sea with an incomparable combination of blues, in warm and transparent waters. It's the first tourist center of Cuba, a privileged spot that has gorgeous beaches with clear waters, where you can easily see the diverse coral, fish and turtles, being a wonderful gift for the senses.

WHERE TO STAY AND WHAT TO DO - HOTELS AND ACTIVITIES

Varadero has an endless offer of entertainment and leisure possibilities. You'll be able to find caves, virgin keys, transparent waters where you'll enjoy exceptional vacations in the Caribbean Sea. Nudism is not a custom in Varadero, but topless women are frequently seen on the beaches and keys.

Varadero is a free port, and it has exceptional conditions for nautical activities; diving, yatching, fishing, parachutting, and its see-through waters allow us to enjoy the sea bottom, where more than 40 different types of corals can be appreciated, as well as an assortment of fish, lobsters, shrimp, turtles and over 70 types of mollusks.

Golf is also a big appeal for sport lovers, and in Varadero you will find excellent golf courses to enjoy this great sport.

At night, hotels provide lively music, with places to dance and meet other tourists. You can enjoy each night your favorite dance, to the rhythm of the rhumba, chachachá or bolero. Being at Varadero is having pleasant and unforgettable experiences that will make you come back for your next vacation.

WHEN AND HOW TO GO - WEATHER AND TRANSPORTATION

The most important airlines have regular flights to the island. Cuba has important airports: The José Martí Airport in Havana, the Antonio Maceo in Santiago, and the Juan Gualberto Gómez in Varadero. The Juan Gualberto Gómez Airport is the most important of Cuba, after the José Martí Airport. Varadero receives direct flights from Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Central America and the Caribbean.

By ground, it can be reached from the capital city, through a wide tourist highway, or from other regions connected with the Carretera Central and the Autopista Nacional. Varadero can also be reached by sea, with possible landings in any of the three marinas.

The weather is nice year round to practice outdoor activities, because there are no extreme temperatures at the Costa Brava.
