Tortugas

This paradise called Tortugas Beach is situated 392 km far from the capital of Peru. Its name comes from the great number of turtles arriving to that coast, although now there are not as many as there used to be.

Thanks to its thoughtful people, bulildings do not have more than two storeys, therefore the harmony between the city and nature is perfect

Torquoise water beaches, fine sand and inviting waves are some of the typical features that make this place the home of some of the best beaches in Peru and an ideal destination to be far from the maddening crowd. In Tortugas beach time goes by slowly, like a turtle, allowing the visitor to enjoy long walks at the incredibly beautiful sunsets delighting in nature and the exotic atmosphere.

Hotels & Activities

Hotels and restaurants are open all the year, offering visitors excellent facilities and first-class service. It is the ideal place to taste ceviche and fried fish, among which corvina and sole are favourite options.

This seaside resort offers national and international holidaymakers loads of activities to do, as well as water sports like fishing, sailing and underwater hunting. Sandboarding is also a usual practice down the hills and dunes of the beach at high speed.

La Gramita is a sandy beach with deep blue water situated nearby and you can get there on foot or on board artisanal vessels, to enjoy virgin nature. Punta el Huaro is a white sand beach, ideal for camping with your family. As it is on an isthmus, it is surrounded by sea which is calm on one side and rough on the other side. At high tide, the two sides join and the isthmus becomes an island.

La Grama is another nearby beach, but unlike La Gramita, it is covered in boulders. It is also a good idea to visit Chanquillo Fortress, Pañamarca Ruins and the temples of Sechin and Punkuri.

Weather & Flights

You can get there by land from Lima airport. The temperature is about 25ºC all the year.
