In Colombia, in the Morrosquillo Gulf, we find Tolu, located in the Caribbean. Tolú is a tourist town and its biggest attraction is its quiet and shallow sea, apt for practicing several sports, and on the way to another Colombian jewel: the San Bernardo Islands, a littler over half an hour away.

There's approximately 80 kilometers of fantastic beaches on the Morrosquillo Gulf, presenting an attractive contrast betwen the landscape and the architecture. Among the best beaches in the area, Los Delfines, Montecarlo and Mi Ranchito stand out. Very close to Tolú you'll find the Francés, Guacamaya and Segunda Ensenada beaches.

Hotels & Activities

There's a good infrastructure for tourist accomodations, it's got hotels, rural houses, beach houses and beautiful cabins for rent.

The most practiced sports are diving, jet ski, and boating, and Tolu is one of the best beaches in Colombia to swim in the sea at night, as well as night fishing. Diving courses are available. One of the strong points in Tolú is to taste the tempting traditional seafood and fish dishes. A very demaded dish is the pargo a la plancha and the shrimp cocktails accompanied by the typical Colombian arepas. If you're not into the traditional dishes, they also have international restaurants.

A very picturesque sight seeing experience in Tolú is to go around its promenade in the bicycle-taxis driven by the locals.

Weather & Flights

There's access by car from several Colombian cities. From Cartagena, it takes two hours and from Bogota, about twenty hours.

The best time to visit is from December to March, when the weather is drier, but the whole year is good to visit Tolú, because the average temperature is 30 degrees Celsius.
