  • SOUTH AMERICA BEACHESSouth America is a sub-continent blessed with paradisiac beaches. In general terms, there are three types of beaches in South America: the ones on the Atlantic Ocean, the ones on the Pacific Ocean, and the ones on the Caribbean Sea.

    Discovered by the Spanish and then divided between them and the Portuguese, South America has inherited an amazing mixture of types and races, among the Europeans and the local inhabitants, creating a singular and genuine new inhabitant of these lands, combining the warmth and grace of Latinos with European elegance.     As a result of the division of the sub-continent by the Iberian Peninsula, the official languages in South America are two: Portuguese, spoken in Brazil, and Spanish, the official tongue of the rest of the South American countries.

    Among all of those countries in South America that have beaches, is the biggest one of the territory, and the one with more kilometers of beach in South America, all of them on the Atlantic Ocean. Among the Brazilian beaches are renowned destinations in the world, like Copacabana, or Ipanema, in the mythical Rio de Janeiro. Uruguay, despite being such a small country, has the beach destination most important of South America, Punta del Este, which is the most glamourous spot of the South American summers. The Uruguayan beaches have a limited window of time (November-March) because the rest of the year the temperatures are cold.

    Argentina also has an important group of beaches on the Atlantic Ocean, nonetheless for being located on the south of the continent, these beaches tend to be cold. Among the Argentinian beaches is the South American Biarritz, Mar del Plata.

    With its costs on the Pacific, some Chilean beaches, like Viña del Mar or Valparaíso, stand out not because of their weather conditions, but because of their international music and film festivals. The Peruvian beaches are known throughout the world for surfing, and within the Peruvian beauties we find Mancora, an old fishing port with a great variety of sea fauna. In terms of the Ecuador beaches, the breathtaking beauty of the Galápagos Islands imposes itself as one of the must see tourist destinations of the area.

    The Colombian beaches are the only ones to have the two types of waters: the ones on the Pacific and the ones on the Caribbean. The most important tourist spot in Colombia is Santa Marta.

    In Venezuela, the beaches are on the Caribbean Sea, so this country benefits from the temperatures and transparency of this fabulous area of the planet. Within the most outstanding Venezuelan beaches are Los Roques, an astonishing archipelago with crystal clear waters, and where tranquility is everywhere, given the scarse infrastructure, and Margarita Island, more developed for tourists.

    South America is, therefore, one of the most heterogeneous and amazing beach destinations. The interconnection among the different countries of in terms of routes and airlines makes simple to visit several South American beaches in the same trip.
