In the Morrosquillo Gulf, in the Caribbean Sea, there's a group of islands that form the San Bernardo archipelago, in Colombian waters. So far the archipelago has maintained its natural conditions, and that is what makes it one of the best beaches in the world, but the risk is presented due to the boom of tourism that could start transforming the place.Some of its islands are: Palma, Panda, Maravilla, Múcura, Mangle, Boquerón as well as an artificial islet called Santa Cruz, they are all located on the most beautiful coral platform of the Caribbean. In Mangle, those who enjoy nature can find the most beautiful herons and the most varied species of coral, mollusks, crustacians, fish and seabirds. Also, plankton and black, red and white mangroves are found everywhere.
WHAT TO DO - ACTIVITIES
If you are into seabirds, visit Isla Maravilla, it's very impressive to see them all together looking for their nests in the sunset.
Diving is the sport most tourists practice, as well as snorkeling, and the best places to accomplish these activities are El Manglar, El Canal and La Pared. Skiing and surfing are widely practiced, and also boating and visiting the rest of the islands of the archipelago.
It's typical to have breakfast on the beach at noon in the restaurants, where you can enjoy lobster, fish, octopuss and snails.
WHEN TO GO - WEATHER
The average temperature is 27 degrees Celsius, with a dry season that goes from December to April and a rainy season from May to November.
