Its stratetic situation in the Suez Canal was the reason why several wars destroyed part of the city, resulting in an architecture which mixes old and modern styles. On the Mediterranean coast, Port Said has a vast beach where you will be able to delight in warm water and fine sand. Watersports are practised both in the Mediterranean Sea and in the Red Sea.

There is a wide range of accommodation offered, and you will be able to choose among luxury hotels, apartments, houses, chalets, etc.
One of the greatest tourist attractions is watching the boat traffic in the port where ships of all sizes come and go, surely impressing onlookers.
Regarding its architecture, there are still many ancient houses with lovely balconies. The Military Museum and the National Museum are the most visited, the former having an interesting display of objects used in successive wars from pharaonic times until the war of 1873, the latter housing artifacts from both islamic and pharaonic origin. Another special tourist attraction is tasting the delicious seafood such as the famous shrimps, very popular with tourists.
There are also three cemeteries with distinctive British, German and Italian architecture.

You can get there taking the motorway from Cairo International Airport or get a connecting flight to Port Said airport.
Just like the rest of the beaches in Egypt, here summers are very hot and dry and winters are moderate.
