Its history covers more than 6,000 years, and this fact gives the visitors the possibility of experiencing history through many archeological sites. The beaches of Naxos are considered to be a paradise, event among the Greece beaches: crystal clear waters, immense white sand dunes that are permanently visited by millions of tourists throughout the year.
A good place to stay is to the north, the beaches of Pajia Ammos and Apolonas are the most popular; in the west, is strongly suggested to visit Ayios Procopis, Castraki, Alicos, Agia Ana, Agios Procopios and Pirgaki. You could even visit the most hidden and secluded beaches, because there's a motorboat and small barge traffic that comes from different towns. To the east, the beautiful Psili and Parnomos stand out.

The infrastructure is very good and varied, from marvelous hotels to humble hostels, from camping to caravans, to apartments, depending on your budget.
To enjoy the picturesque landscape and water sports such as water skiing, diving and boating are the biggest attraction, along with the historical value that allows the visitor to be in touch with this culture, because in this mountanous area there are many archeological sites, and the globally famous and very important Greek mythology.
You can visit monuments from all times, the Portara and the Venecian Towers being the most important ones. Portara is a huge gate, considered the icon of the island. Other big attractions are the two cathedrals, the Glezos Tower and the Ducal Palace, which seriously compete with the best monuments to be found in the proximities of the Italian beaches, which are the excellence of the combination of beaches and historical treasures.
Weather & Flights
Naxos has an airport connecting with Rhodes, Mykonos and Athens, and there's also a ferry with an excellent service from and to the Pireus.
From June to August, the Greek summer is hot and dry, it may be better to visit this island in the spring months, from April to June, or during the fall, from September to October. With the exception of the winter months, from November to March, the rest of the year Naxos is commonly visited by tourists.
