This island, known as "the Caribbean Pearl" is considered by analysts in tourism as being the most important beach in South America. Year after year, well known artists, politicians and businessmen choose it for its excellent location; its exotic shore (among the best beaches in the world), its many touristic attractions and a national and international gastronomy of a first level.
It has a great variety of beaches for all ages and preferences, someof them with mild and calm waters, such as "La Caracola", "Playa Montero" and Pampatar",ideal places for rest and enjoyment with family and children, which are reputed as being among the most familiar beaches in Venezuela. If we are looking for action or the practice of aquatic sports, we can go to beaches with high tides, such as "Playa Caribe" or the popular "Playa el Agua".
We can find all the necessary services which can be offered in a great city; avant-garde hotel trade, with modern rooms and excellent sights; good restaurants for all availability of money,where we can enjoy delicious dishes of fish and seafood and the typical "Cachapa", a cake made of corn, stuffed with cheese.
Night life is very amusing; tourists beginbyhaving drinks and cocktailsin pubs and "kioskos", before going to modern night clubs; where they count with well-guarded parking, bars, and large dance floors with the best music, There is also a great variety of casinos, bingo halls, karaoke and other places for night amusement.
We can also enjoy tours to the inside of the region: visit the Church of the Valley or the small fort of Juan Griego, go to the National Park of Laguna de la Restinga, have a good ride along the shore and, as a good ending, have lunch on the same shore of "Macanao". As a natural monument, we can't fail to see the two hills in "La Restinga" called "Las Tetas de María Guevara".
The island is a duty free port; so we have a good opportunity for shopping in fairs or important shopping centers.
We can arrive by direct flies from Caracas. The sun is magnificent during the whole year; there are rare possibilities of rain and hurricanes and the average temperature is 30º.
