Mar del Plata is the most important port of the Argentinian south and the most important tourist destination of the country, located 400 kilometers from Buenos Aires, the Argentinian capital. It receives, in the summertime, between two to three million visitors, mainly Argentinians, who in January and February double its regular population.The Mar del Plata coast is comprised of a great amount of wonderful beaches: the Bristol is located in front of the city, with a wide strip of sand and a splendid blue and tranquil sea, inviting for a dip.
Out of the over fourty beaches on the Mar del Plata, there's one for every taste, from the ones where you can sunbathe on the rocks though it's not advisable to go deep in these waters, to the ones where you can enjoy swimming, fishing and going out in small boats. The most visited by tourists are the ones at the center and south of the city.

The "Pearl of the Atlantic" or the "Argentinian Biarritz", as its popularly known, offers a top notch and varied hotel infrastructure at all levels, besides refined and complete services.
This beautiful place is ideal for resting, to forget the noise and fully enjoy the sound of the sea and the exquisite food, which consists mainly of fish and seafood, the locals are expert in the preparation of the fruits of the sea, because the beaches have a very good tourist infrastructure. At night, Mar del Plata offers a myriad of night activities: bars, night clubs and restaurants that place it at the top of the list in the Argentinian beaches in terms of nightlife.
There are several fairs and markets featuring typical crafts, an antique fair and a wood crafts fair in an installation that is typical from the XIX century. Every year, the Film Festival of Mar del Plata takes place, which is the only A class Festival in South America.
The Panorámica Norte, a commercial road near the beach, has an area full of boutiques, handicrafts and local navigational equipment for purchasing or leasing. It also has all the basic infrastructure of a city: a hospital, convenience stores, internet, police, bank, and everything you need so you will not miss anything during your stay.
HOW AND WHEN TO GO - WEATHER AND TRANSPORTATION
It's accessible by air or land. The highways allow easy access from Buenos Aires (400 kms) and many Argentinian cities, because they are very well maintained. Internationally, most of the airports of the world connect with Buenos Aires, and the most important airlines offer reasonable prices from anywhere in the world to the Argentinian capital.
Of course, if you want sun, sand and sea think January and February, where you can also surf, play volleyball, and participate in swimming competitions in open water rescue, marathons and triathlons in circuits coast, but out of season expect long walks on sunny days and rocky cliffs into the sea is where you can enjoy sunsets of infinite beauty.
