Just 35 Km from Portoviejo, capital city of the province of Manabí, we find the outstanding, magic touristic Manta, a captivating city with a perfect joint of beaches placed in the same center of the town,which counts with an excellent hostage tradeand the kindness of its people
The 12 more visited beaches along its vast shore are "Tarqui" with its spectacularParquedelMarisco; "El Murciélago", an urban seaside surrounded by buildings; "Los Esteros", restful and wide; "Barbasquillo" at the south, with cliffs from where we can watch beautiful panoramic sights; "La Tiñosa", surrounded by mountains, an ideal place for rest, and the beaches "San Lorenzo", "San Mateo" and "Liguiqui" where it is possible to see coloured coral reefs ideals for diving and swimming under sea.
Many tourists visit the place during the whole year, so there is a really large supply in hotel trade. We can hire excursions to the city at their reception, or previously plan our tour with local operators.
There are also very well-known car hire services. Manta has a lively night activity which includes tours along its piers where we can find many pubs, restaurants, night clubs and casinos.
We can't fail to go to the MalecónEscénico, to enjoy many varied national and international spectacles, rides, or a guided visit to the wet tropical forest of Pacoche.
Basic dishes are fish and sea food; tuna with potatoes glazed with sugar and may is the most remarkable one. In many beaches we can see the boats arriving with fresh fish and watch its elaboration.
In 2004 the beaches in Manta were chosen to be the seat of the world competition of Bodyboarding, which assure us that there are the best beaches in Ecuador for the practice of kitebording, surf, ski and all kind of aquatic sports.
We can arrive by direct flies from Quito to the airport of Manta. During the whole year the average temperature is about 27º. The ideals months to go are from November to March.
