Mamanuca

Mamanuca islands are about 20 islands, some of which are totally covered by the sea at high tide, and others are small coral islets with coasts which deserve to be among the best beaches in Fiji. Malolo, Mana, Beachcomber, Monu and Tavarua are the most beautiful and Treasure Island is the most famous.

However, the best beaches in the area are on the islands in the middle, and to get there you must go through mountains and difficult paths, which give the journey a taste of adventure and marvellous views of Mamanuca coasts.

Mamanuca islands receive lots of tourists, basically because you can get there by catamaran in only 90 minutes. Ironically, it was here, on Modriki island where the film Castaway , starring Tom Hanks, was filmed.

Activities

Hiring a boat to go round the area is one of the most popular activities with tourists, as well as taking part in fishing competitions which are organized on the island.

Going diving in Malolo Reef is a must for those visiting Mamanuca, as it offers excellent visibility to appreciate the varied marine fauna typical of Fiji.

Flights

You can take a flight from Nadi International Airport or a boat from any other island in Fiji.
