This charming place is considered the number one seaside resort of the North. Its architecture from the beginning of the 20th century together with current buildings makes this city really beautiful.
The main beach, Pimentel, is a port and seaside resort as well, and is an ideal place to enjoy the peace and quiet. Pimentel is usually visited by wealthy holidaymakers from Chiclayo in search of all the comfort and services which guarantee a pleasant holiday.
There are infinite options for accommodation, which guarantees an excellent stay. Many of these places also organize tours of the city of Chiclayo and to the centre of the province of Lambayeque in order to meet its interesting history. There are heated swimming pools as well as pools in the open air to delight both youngsters and adults.
You must take a walk along the waterfront and watch the “Caballitos de Totora” arriving after a long artisan fishing journey. The quay is 200 metres long and over 100 years old. This place is also known because of the olymbeaches, motorboating championships, beach volleyball, surfing and live rock concerts.
Travelling 20 km west of Chiclayo we arrive at Puerto Eten, a low beach with golden sand and 6.5 km in length where you can enjoy quietness and big waves. It is called "Playa de Ensueño" and is really popular with fishermen.
If you continue along Panamericana Route, you get to Santa Rosa Creek, usually chosen by artists due to its total quietness, then Monsefu Beach, chosen by surfers and divers or San José Creek, from where ( according to a legend) Navlamp, founder god of the city, emerged.
The regional airport of Chiclayo has daily connections with Lima International Airport. As in most of the Peru Beaches, it is advisable to visit the seaside resort during the Latin American summer, from December to March, when the temperatures are about 32ºC.
