The most popular beaches are: Playa del Barco, whose name refers to a ship that sank there known as the Catay. It's visited by thousands of surfers, it has great waves, which becomes a meeting place for young people. Very different than the other beach, Desplayado, since it is ideal to visit with children in the calm waters.

La Pedrera has a good infrastructure for accommodations designed to suit all tastes and needs of the tourist, excellent hotels, eco tourist stays, cabins and camping.
Many water sports are fun for tourists but the most practiced is surfing, as there are good waves. And also here, beacuse of the wind, you can find the best beaches for windsurfing in Uruguay.
In terms of gastronomy, its restaurants offer excellent homemade dishes, especially seafood. Many young people visit here, so the nights are very moving because there is always a fashionable place to meet and dance until dawn, if you like to try your luck, it also has a casino near La Paloma, about 12 kms away.

From Montevideo to La Pedrera is about 228 kilometers, from Carrasco International Airport, which receives international airlines worldwide. You can also arrive from Argentina and Brazil by different routes by land only or combined with a boat ride.
Summer is the best time to go since the average temperature is 28 degrees with a nice breeze. Just before the start of summer and a little later, from November to late March is ideal. The rest of the year is cold.
