At the northwest of Tahiti, the most beautiful island in the Leeward Islands is without a doubt, Bora Bora.
An ancient volcano covered by transparent waters that make a beautiful lake surrounded by coral reefs and Mount Otemanu, over 700 meters high, are some of the attractions of this amazing island that is also called the "Pearl of Polynesia". Calm water beaches, crystal clear and temperate waters, with green palm trees and a high extinct volcano make a place very similar to the tourist paradise. The city is surrounded by a lagoon, which makes the water of its beaches resemble those of a pool.
The color of the sea varies in intensity according to the depth discovering that the turquoise from green to blue, being the most shallow. Nature has made Bora Bora the most preferred destination by tourists for their vacations, as is the most exotic and fabulous beach within the Polynesian, and surely one of the best beaches in the world.
WHERE TO STAY AND WHAT TO DO - HOTELS AND ACTIVITIES
With an excellent infrastructure for tourists, the famous Bora Bora offers luxury hotels with beautiful bungalows with terraces overlooking the waters of the island. There are also many spas and resorts and wooden huts built on water with a glass floor. You can also rent houses or mansions.
Scuba diving, windsurfing, water skiing, fishing, snorkeling and other sports are practiced here, one of the most popular activities is the organized excursion to feed the sharks. Another very popular activity is riding in glass bottom boats where there is an enjoyment of the sea sights or go to any island by paddling a canoe or taking a boat trip.
In the archaeological sites you may have the delight of visiting several stone temples and a helicopter ride is ideal for a full panoramic view of the island. Another of the rides not to be missed is a visit the picturesque villages of Anau, Vaitape and Faanui, where you will find the typical picturesque markets of Polynesia.
HOW AND WHEN TO GO - WEATHER AND TRANSPORTATION
A half hour away from Vaitape, is the airport on Motu Mate, where the frequency of arrivals and departures is enormous. Many of the hotels offer transportation from the airport.
The climate is tropical, with a temperature of 25ēC and 30ēC average. There are two seasons: dry and wet, the hottest months are December to March, perhaps the best option is to visit during the months of April through October.
