The most outstanding beach in the area is probably Queen Highway in the west of the island, deserving to be among the best beaches of the world, together with other neighbouring beaches like Radio Beach, Blister Beach and Spook Hill, certainly the most amazing beaches in Bahamas.
As regards fishing and adventure, Bimini owes its reputation to the famous American writer Ernest Hemingway, who felt attracted by the tropical forest and the foamy water of the place, which inspired him to write one of his best known novels "The old man and the sea".
Where to stay and what to do
Bimini offers a good choice of the typical Caribbean accommodation: 5-star hotels with the best facilities and services.
Fishing is, of course, the main activity on the island. But Bimini is also a paradise for divers, as it offers a surprising visibility as far as 28 metres at Coral Rainbow. Another excellent spot for diving is Little Caverns.
You can also enjoy drinks at the famous pub where Hemingway found his inspiration, known as "Hemingway`s Hideways". Or visit Bimini Museum in Alice Town, with displays of the events on the island at the time of "Prohibition" in the United States.
An important detail to remember is that, as the island is under British rule, you drive on the left.
When and how to go
There are regular flights from nearby Nassau and from Florida in the United States.
Bimini can be visited any time of the year, but the fishing season is from March to September.
