Placed in the province of "Esmeraldas" on the south coast of the Pacific, Atacames is reputed as being the chief beach of Ecuador and among the bestones. It is always chosen during the whole season by foreign tourists as well as by the inhabitants of Quito because it's only 350 kilometers from the capital of the country.
Besides its wonderful beaches, there are excellent restaurants along its great pier, where we will be able to taste its exotic seafood.- We can have tropical drinks such as "Coco Loco" (typical drink with coco water) or the traditional "Caipirinha", -very popular in the place- with this exquisite gourmet dishes.
Of course, it will be an extraordinary unforgettable adventure to have our holidays in one of these spectacular Ecuador beaches.
WHERE TO STAY AND WHAT TO DO - HOTELS AND ACTIVITIES
Due to its popularity and prestige, the village has a great supply of hotels; where it is possible to find luxury and super luxury hotels -very demanded by their guests because of their outstanding thematic parties- and the traditional cottages placed on the shore.
Atacames is also known by its intense night life. We can begin by the traditional promenade where we can try an immense variety of drinks in the "chiringuitos" and end our night in modern nightclubs where we can also have some lessons of "merengue", "salsa" y "cha-cha-cha".
For those who enjoy peace and rural tourism, it is very interesting to visit the natural reserve MACHI CHANDUL, go near the "Isla de los Pájaros", where we can find birds en their savage habitat, or go to nearby seasides, such as Sua, Muisne, Same and Tonsura.
It is always possible to practice a lot of sports, especially surf.
WHEN AND HOW TO GO - WEATHER AND TRANSPORTATION
We can arrive by direct flies from Quito or Colombia to the airport or Esmeraldas, and from there, we have 30 kilometers by road. From November to March is the best time to go, where we can find an average temperature of 30º.
