This is a favourite high middle class seaside resort , and is crowded all the year because it is an excellent place to enjoy the sun, the beach, have fun and do important business, as well In the year 2003, an enormous shopping centre opened on the Panamericana Sur Route. It is a great tourist attraction where you will find activities for all ages. You can enjoy it while on holiday on the beach, or you can stop there for a while if you wish to have a break on your journey to the south.
It is an ideal seaside resort for young people and travel parties, since the main attraction is the busy night life.
As it is a really exclusive place, there are only a few high class hotels, so we recommend you to rent one of the villas you find along the 8-kilometre long coastal line.
There are lots of bars and restaurants, many of which have specialized in international dishes, as well as fast-food places or traditional inns where you will be able to try the dry soup, the “carapulcra” or the traditional “ceviche”.
There are lots of entertainment facilities. You can practise motor sports in the first professional kart track of Peru, where there are also bars, cafés, banks, designer clothes shops, cinemas, bookshops and all you can imagine. The Cultural Centre Rimac stands out, offering live concerts, exhibitions and high society events like the Tennis Davis Cup. The discos are big multi-storey buildings where you can dance to all kinds of music and enjoy all sorts of drinks. All of them have parking facilities and private security.
On the Panamericana Sur Route, from kilometre 62 to kilometre 126, you can find hundreds of beaches, for example “las Tortitas “and “ los Reyes”, although it is Asia Beach the one young people like most, because it is where they celebrate INTI FEST, a 24-hour electronic music festival which takes place on the beach in January.
You get there by land on a short journey from Lima airport. It is a good idea to visit the place between December and March, since at that time of the year the average temperatures are over 24ºC.
