ANGUILLA
ANGUILLA BEACHES
CARIBBEAN BEST

Anguilla has not suffered from the impact of mass tourism or the overdeveloped infrastructure that other places in the Caribbean have had to get used to. Being 28 km long and 5 kms wide at its widest point, it has a surface which is too arid for cultivation.
Therefore, all the efforts to produce cotton, salt and tobacco in colonial times were unsuccessful, which prevented the island from developing, this being the best fate Anguilla has probably had, as tourism has only just begun in this area.
Its 33 beaches are free from big hotels that would damage the charm of its environment. In fact, Anguilla has gained a reputation for being a place where you can find luxury hotels, but these are so well camouflaged in nature, that it seems that nothing has changed on the island despite their presence.
WHERE TO STAY AND WHAT TO DO
You will be able to find good hotels in Anguilla, but as these are not many, we recommend you to book in advance.
In Anguilla the best thing you can do is visiting the beaches. We recommend you to observe the impressive cliffs at Crocus Bay Beach, one of the best beaches in the Caribbean , or go to Little Bay for a swim among corals and multicolored fish.
Local people claim that Anguilla has one of the 10 best beaches in the World, called Shoal Bay East . You can also explore the famous stone beach on the Redenzvous Bay, where, thanks to the action of winds, the stones show thousands of different funny shapes.
If you really love diving, the most recommendable spots are Dog Island, Seal Island, Scrub Island and Prickly Pear Cays, where you will be able to swim in the company of turtles and lobsters.
And if you want to meet local people, we recommend you to go into a pub and take part in a game of domino, which seems to be the islanders´favourite spare time activity.
WHEN AND HOW TO GO
You can travel by plane from Puerto Rico or Saint Marteen, and then take a boat to Blowing Point, which is the ferry terminal in The Valley, the capital of Anguilla.
