Angras dos Reis

Angras

Angra dos Reis is situated 150 from Rio de Janeiro, on the Green Coast. It is a small continental city that has access to 365 islands with more than 2000 beaches. These islands occupy about 193 km², they all have different sizes and shapes and the biggest one is Ilha Grande.

Angra Dos Reis is a city dedicated to fishing. It is fascinating to board a boat from the quay and go offshore enjoying the spectacular landscapes, crystal water and impressive mansions built by the rich and famous. During this journey you can stop to dive, swim and observe a myriad of colour fish in the absolutely transparent water.

Hotels & Activities

Due to the enormous number of tourists, Angra Dos Reis has excellent facilities with all kinds of accommodation from resorts to hotels with high-class restaurants and excellent cuisine, as well as camping sites. There is a great variety to choose from.

The most beautiful and famous beach of the big island is Lopes Mendes, an ocean beach with nearly 3 km of fine white sand, which is undoubtedly one of the best beaches in the world. Despite the strong waves and sea currents, the water is extremely transparent and ideal for the practice of watersports.

The 22 inlets that form Ilha Grande have more than 100 beaches among which Abraao Inlet stands out as the most beautiful on the island. It is between high mountains that emerge towards the sea and it has ten beaches and five islets. The landscape shows beautiful beaches of calm, transparent waters, jungle, impressive mountains, streams and waterfalls. It is a very quiet village with marvellous beaches except the one opposite it, which is not suitable for bathing due to the great number of boats which are anchored there. We recommend you to go to the other nearby beaches on the bay, which are ideal to fully enjoy bathing.

Another popular inlet is the bay Praia de Palmas, with outstanding beaches like Grande de Palmas, Mangues, Pouso, Aroeira and Recife. The big beach in Las Palmas is like two beaches in one, as it has opposite extremes, one has gravel and the sea is deep and wavy, the other is calm, has fine sand, and green transparent water. Mangues beach is excellent for bathing or swimming, because its water is as calm as a lake and quite warm in summer.
