Alexandria, with its coast bathed by the Mediterranean Sea, has many kilometres of white sand beaches and clear water which welcome tourists in its entirety, since there is also a bay and a tourist centre. A busy, typical beach in Egypt is Abu Quir, offering crystal water where you can practise several watersports or go fishing, since this paradise has abundant marine fauna to discover.
From the coast, you can see a tiny island called Faros, which tops off this beautiful landscape.
Alexandria offers a wide range of different places to stay, and you will be able to choose among big five-star hotels or smaller ones, or maybe rent an apartment or small house.
There is a tourist centre called Agami, knowns as the Egyptian Saint Tropez, which is worth visiting. Another busy spot is Hannoville.
It is interesting to visit ancient palaces which have been refurbished, like Haramlek, which is now a casino and museum, or Salamlek, a palace which has been transformed into a hotel.
In Abu Quir, you cannot miss the ancient city of Canopus, Sidi Abdul and Alamein. Other great tourist attractions are Pompei´s Column, Quaitbay fortress, Montazah Palace, the Graeco-Roman Museum, the Roman Theatre and the Library of Alexandria.
From Cairo airport , you have good roads and railways to travel approximately 220 kilometres to Alexandria.
The climate is dry and warm in summer (from May to September) and it can be cool and rainy in winter (from November to March). The highest temperatures are about 38ºC and the lowest 14ºC.
